This Week in Matagorda
Full Stringer Lodge Report
August 22, 2008

Well, this week was a wet one! We had plenty of rain to top it off. The fishing was somewhat at it's best.

Capt.Ken Sabin and Capt.Kyle Tomek teamed up Thursday night for a wade. They had 14 trout and and 4 reds between them and clients. They were caught on top-waters and soft plastics.

Capt.Rob Cummings on Monday limited out on trout and caught 4 reds. The were throwing Spook J.R's and number #51 Mirrorlures. The trout were up to 24" and the reds were up to 25"s!

Capt.Scott Reeh had Glen from MidCoast Products join him for a little scouting over in East Bay. Before being run off the water at 8:30am, 8 trout to 4lbs fell prey to their SuperSpook Jrs. Fishing drains that were abundant w/ bait fish was the ticket. The highlight of the trip was when Glen landed his personal best trout of 4lbs!

The wind kicked seas up most of the early part of last week and kept Capt.Ken Marshall on the dock. East Bay was an option for drifting. Most of the bay was a mudhole except for one small area that produced a couple reds and a trout. They fished up the river and found several short trout and reds and but only boxed 4 trout. The wind finnally slowed down Thur. and allowed them to get back on the tuna, ling, king, dorado and ajs.

Monday Capt.Mark Talasek drifted Oyster Lake with Glenn Warren throwing live shrimp. First drift produced a hookup every cast with a redfish. They grinded it out in the west wind boxing 4 reds, a trout and drum. Monday he took Glenn on the flounder pounder to west bay. The tide was low but water was in great shape. 29 flatties hit the bucket before heading in at midnight. Tuesday night the flounder pounder returned to the same spot with Carol, Margie, Suzie and Lynn. 21 more flatties hit the bucket for the ladies. Bill Herrington waded west with him on friday. They dodged thunder showers most of the morning and boxed 9 trout on roach Bass Assassins. Saturday Bill and company ventured to east bay with him. They threw topwater's along the south shoreline where they found 8 trout and a redfish before the bottom fell out around 10 a.m.

Well, the fishing is good so if you want a last minute summer fishing trip come on down!!
