Mexican Gold Poppy
Scientific Name: (Eschscholzia mexicana)
Definition: Though not especially common in Texas, it is native. The plants usualy form large colonies that are quite impressive. Low, upright or sprawling annual grows to 16". Stems usually solitary, branching at top. Flower grows 3/4 to 1 1/2" across, orange, gold or bright yellow. 4 cupped petals. Grows in dry rocky soil preferring hillside and slopes. Blooms March - May.
