Milfoil
Scientific Name: (Achilea millefolium)
Definition: Another of the Sunflower Family (Asteraceae), milfoil is a tough perenial growing stiffly upright 8-40". The foliage is soft, gray green and aromatic. Stems grow singly or several together, and the plant forms clumps or small colonies. The flower head is about 1/4" across, 5-12 petals usually white but sometimes pink. The flower heads grow in groups of 10-20, formng a dense cluster. Clusters come together in a large mass at the end of a stalk. Milfoil originated in Europe but is now spread throughout most of North America. A good yard plant, often called "yarrow". Blooms April-June.
